On graduating from high school in 1998, Conny Steidl, founder, owner and managing director of SPREAD, completed a degree in German and English studies at the University of Regensburg, while working as a freelance writer for a German regional Sunday paper. She went on to complete a dual degree in economics and business administration in Munich, focussing on sales and marketing, and also gained a qualification as an instructor (AdA). In 2003, she fulfilled her childhood dream and relocated to Vienna, where she took her first steps in the media industry in the role of Key Account Manager at publishers Verlagsgruppe News (VGN). Over the course of the next six years, she handled the cosmetics, watches and jewellery segment, auction houses, in addition to a number of international fashion labels. In 2004, she also took on the project management for the first Austrian luxury magazine supplement, ‘News Exklusiv’, which she designed and launched together with the editorial team. Three years later, she was a proud founding member of Premium Personality Magazine, initially in the post of Senior Vice President Marketing & Sales. In mid-2009, she left VGN and took a formative six-month break in the creative metropolis of New York, where her dream of having an agency of her own began to take shape.
On her return to Vienna at the beginning of 2010, she took over the post of Head of Advertising at magazines ‘Diva’ and ‘Diva Wohnen’ at Styria Multi Media Ladies GmbH and launched the highly successful ‘DIVA Stylebible’. At the beginning of 2012, she joined the management at SMM Ladies GmbH (DIVA, DIVA Wohnen, Miss, Gartenmagazin) where she was responsible for the overall brand management, sales and marketing of all titles. She was also responsible for overseeing international sales representatives and clients in Italy for the entire Ladies Unit. Thereafter, Conny took over project management at corporate magazine ‘Spar Mahlzeit’ for two years. The last milestone in her career at Styria was the launch of the DIVA Stylebible in Switzerland.
In October 2014, Cornelia Steidl founded SPREAD in Vienna, the city she considers home and is now the proud head of a team of seven employees.
The PR Consultant and Head of Media and Blogger Relations at SPREAD has herself been a successful lifestyle blogger for several years now. Born in Kärnten with Bulgarian roots, she completed her dual degree in journalism and communications combined with English studies in Vienna and Edinburgh. During her studies, Kristina worked as a freelancer copywriter for various media, including ‘derStandard’, ‘Weekend Magazine’, ‘Indie Magazine’, ‘Material Girl Magazine’, ‘theGap’, ‘Viennarama’, ‘Lucy’s Magazine’, ‘Youki Magazine’ and ‘theStudent’. She also managed the social media presence of concept store Burggasse24 and Viennarama and gained her first insights into PR work at Plasticmedia and heroes & heroines. She has been with SPREAD since March 2016.
Junior Consultant Anna is a native of Vienna but headed to Hamburg on leaving school, where she studied fashion journalism and media communication at the AMD Academy of Fashion and Design. She went on to complete a distance learning Bachelor of Arts in Creative Industries at the European College of Business and Management. During this time, she gained initial work experience at the German communications agency Achtung! and reporter magazine, ‘stern’. On finishing her studies, she returned to Vienna and joined SPREAD in September 2016.
Junior Consultant Janina grew up near Frankfurt am Main. She holds a dual degree in business administration with a focus on marketing. During her Bachelor of Arts degree in Karlsruhe, she worked in Customer Marketing and Sales for consumer goods manufacturer, Mars Incorporated, at various locations in Germany. Here, too, she was able to gain experience in internal communication and event organisation, where she discovered her passion for communication. To explore this interest further, she decided to relocate to Vienna in 2003 to complete a Masters in Journalism and Communication Science. Alongside her degree studies, she worked as an e-learning designer for Viennese company, LearnChamp, and spent a semester abroad in Copenhagen. She caught the travel bug during her time there and subsequently travelled to Asia and Australia. However, her home of choice is Vienna, and she has been part of our team since her return in August 2017.
Junior Assistant and Social Media Manager at SPREAD, Marigona, grew up near Bonn before relocating to Vienna to study. During her degree in Journalism and Communication Science, she gained experience in various fields, working as a freelance writer for ‘Harmony Minds’, the magazine for mindfulness and sustainability, before joining young start-up mosaïque, where she was responsible for PR and Social Media. She also completed a traineeship at the Kronen Zeitung newspaper. Her heart beats for fashion and her most recent post was as a stylist at Stylebop in Munich. She is now completing her bachelor degree and has been part of our team since August 2017.
Aida, our Tirol-born trainee with Bosnian roots, discovered her interest in event organising at an early age. She enjoyed a great deal of publicity and collected donations that financed the construction of a children’s home in Africa with her school project, “Art for Burkina Faso”. On graduating from high school in 2014, she gained her first work experience and an insight into the work processes at Haim Elektrotechnik. In October 2017, she followed her passion for communication and fashion to Vienna and has been part of our team ever since.
